Earned Media refers to publicity, exposure, or mentions a brand receives organically, without direct payment. It's essentially free advertising generated by efforts other than Paid Media or Owned Media. Examples include Word-of-Mouth Marketing (WOMM), customer reviews, social media shares and mentions, Public Relations (PR) efforts leading to press coverage, and User-Generated Content (UGC). Earned media is often highly credible because it comes from third parties. While not directly paid for, it often results from strong brand reputation, excellent products/services, or effective Content Marketing.
